Operations & Training Staff Experience

03/10-07/11: Operations and Training Officer, 2d Marine Division Communication Company, US Marines

  • Improved company self sustainability by increasing met rifle range quotas and total on hand truck drivers in the company through a revamping of the training and check-in process.
  • Supervised 4 communications training exercises involving coordination with up to 5 outside agencies.
  • Planned and directed 4 separate company communications missions, involving 6 different company sections and utilizing radios, multiplexers, data network devices, data servers and telephony in high tempo field environments.
  • Conceptualized and implemented the safe execution of leadership and combat training scenarios in an urban training center with over 100 Marines and rifles utilizing various ammunition types, night vision, communication and power systems.
  • Initiated physical exercise, combat training and annual awareness training events on a weekly basis that exceeded Marine Corps standards and prepared over 250 Marines for the rigors of military life and combat deployments.
  • Formulated comprehensive long and mid-range training plans for the company.

Team Leadership Experience

06/2007 - 03/2010 Training Schools and Platoon Commander Leadership Positions in the US Marines

  • Led a platoon of 40 Marines that successfully completed initial setup and continual maintenance of all cyber communications for the Commanding General and his Marine Expeditionary Brigade during the first buildup of troops in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
  • Supervised inventory and accountability of 547 end items worth over $11,000,000 as they were constantly re-allocated for various missions in Helmand Province Afghanistan.
  • In two different billets, responsible for the training, mentoring and evaluation of up to 40 Marines in preparation for combat operations.
  • Trained in the toughest leadership school in the world: The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia. We were trained in the high standards of professional knowledge, esprit-de-corps, and leadership required to prepare for duty as a company grade officer, with particular emphasis on the duties and war-fighting skills required of a rifle platoon commander.
  • Selected from one of the toughest leadership and indoctrination schools in the world: Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia: Trained, evaluated and screened to ensure possessed the moral, intellectual, and physical qualities for commissioning, and the leadership potential to serve successfully.
